public cloud

A cloud computing model in which services and infrastructure are provided by third-party vendors over the internet, accessible to multiple organizations.

Public cloud refers to a cloud computing environment where resources such as servers, storage, and applications are owned and managed by external providers and delivered to customers over the internet. These services are available to multiple organizations on a shared infrastructure, offering scalability, flexibility, and cost efficiency without the need for direct hardware management.

Major public cloud providers—such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform—offer a wide range of services, including Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), and Software as a Service (SaaS). This model enables rapid deployment, global reach, and pay-as-you-go pricing, making it attractive for businesses of all sizes.

While public cloud offers significant advantages in terms of agility and resource availability, organizations must carefully consider data security, compliance, and vendor lock-in when adopting this model for sensitive or mission-critical workloads.
